Japan's first data utilization platform, DataTetra, helps reduce AI costs

A user-driven platform that allows companies to manage, utilize, and control their own data, coexisting with AI.

WingArc1st Inc.

WingArc1st Inc. announces DataTetra, a new data utilization platform solution designed for corporate AI usage. Available from 21 October.

DataTetra addresses challenges such as the complexity of data processing accompanying the increase in data volume, the increase in costs incurred each time AI is used, and dependence on fragmented, specific services when companies utilize their own data with AI. It provides a new lakehouse (*1) environment and supports it as an integrated data platform, from data integration and management to AI-based analysis and business utilization. In addition, it aims for a user-driven model where costs associated with the expansion of AI utilization are suppressed through operations, and companies can proactively select and control their own data and AI usage environments.

■ Background of development
With the evolution of generative AI, corporate data utilization is at a major turning point. It has become possible to process not only conventional structured data in numerical or tabular formats but also unstructured data such as documents, audio, and images using AI, and even people without specialized technical skills can extract necessary information through natural language queries. On the other hand, the data held by companies is diversifying and increasing in scale, and as AI is incorporated into business operations, new challenges are becoming apparent. For example, Context Rot, where loading large amounts of information into AI can lead to a failure to properly grasp context, results in lower response accuracy, as well as stability issues due to dependencies on the operational status of external AI services. Furthermore, the repeated processing of unstructured data and analysis/searches by AI leads to an accumulation of usage-based processing costs, creating a structure where expenses increase as companies use AI on a daily basis. (*2) With the adoption of AI progressing, what companies need is not just the ability to store and process large amounts of data, but a system that allows AI to correctly understand the necessary data, operate in a stable environment, and continue to be used at a predictable cost. We decided to develop DataTetra, recognizing the importance of a user-driven model where companies themselves can select and control how data is managed and utilized.

■ A data utilization platform for the AI era
DataTetra has three design philosophies: coexistence with AI, data leadership, and a data utilization platform. Rather than simply adding AI technology to existing data platforms, we aim to provide integrated support for the integration, management, semantic enrichment, analysis, and business utilization of data held by companies.

1. Coexistence with AI: Utilizing company-specific data and know-how with AI
We will establish an environment that handles structured and unstructured company data, allowing AI to reference its meaning and usage conditions. In addition, by combining areas that require AI processing with areas suitable for conventional program-based processing, we aim to reduce excessive reliance on AI and achieve efficient data processing.

2. Data Sovereignty: Ensuring options do not depend on specific technologies or services
You can build a data utilization environment while leveraging data assets such as DWH (Data Warehouse) and lakehouses. The configuration allows companies to select technologies and services according to their own system environments and operational policies, reducing dependence on specific vendors.

3. Data Utilization Platform: Integrating everything from data consolidation to business utilization
We provide integrated support for data consolidation, management, contextualization, construction of applications and AI agents, and sharing and utilization. We provide an environment that balances data governance by the IT department with flexible data utilization by business departments, allowing AI to be incorporated into daily decision-making and business processes.

■ Leveraging existing data assets to predict and manage AI utilization costs
DataTetra combines technologies and product groups provided by WingArc, such as Dr.Sum, MotionBoard, and dejiren AI, to provide integrated support for corporate data utilization. It supports configurations that complement existing DWHs as well as configurations that build a data utilization platform centered on DataTetra, enabling implementation tailored to a company's system environment. In addition, we plan to adopt a capacity-based billing system based on usage limits such as processing power, rather than usage-based billing. This aims to provide an environment where companies can continuously utilize data while anticipating costs, even as they expand their AI usage.

■ Supporting the establishment of data utilization in companies
In addition to providing products and technologies, DataTetra offers services that support everything from building the data utilization environment to its operation and establishment within the organization. We leverage the expertise of a specialized team that conducts over 100 support projects annually to address the unique business challenges of each company. Furthermore, by supporting not only the construction of the data platform but also human resource development and the establishment of operational structures, we aim to build organizations where data utilization progresses continuously.

Through DataTetra, WingArc will deliver an environment where companies can proactively manage their own data and know-how, and continuously utilize AI.

(*1) Lakehouse: A mechanism that integrates structured and unstructured data, complementing the strengths of DWH and data lakes. It reduces the redundancy of conventional data management systems and supports efficient data management and analysis adapted for AI.

(*2) Results of a survey on corporate AI utilization and organizational outcomes conducted in September 2026. When asked, "Do you think the cost of using AI services will be a challenge for your company's AI utilization in the future?" (n=546), 28.2% answered "strongly agree" and 50.9% answered "somewhat agree," highlighting the issue of cost.
Survey target: 546 personnel working at companies with 300 or more employees who are involved in promoting the introduction and utilization of AI at their companies.
