Dr.Sum Copilot Offers SQL Explanation Function

WingArc1st Inc. will release a new function that automatically analyzes and explains SQL using generative AI as a part of Dr.Sum Copilot in its data analysis platform, Dr.Sum, on April 18.

This function was developed to assist those who want to improve their database operation skills and those who spend an inordinate amount of time developing SQL. Dr.Sum Copilot can generate SQL from natural language, as well as automatically analyze and explain existing SQL, thereby improving operational efficiency and eliminating non-standardization work.

In the information systems department, SQL is written differently by each engineer, making it difficult for anyone else to understand and maintain. When a former engineer transfers to another position, it is often difficult for successor to understand past SQL statements.

Furthermore, the IT department is required to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, such as considering the replacement of existing systems, responding to internal inquiries, and implementing security measures. This requires a wide range of skills in infrastructure management and related fields.

By utilizing this function, analysis can be performed automatically without advanced SQL knowledge, thereby improving the efficiency of SQL analysis, which used to take time to learn. This prevents work from becoming dependent on specific individuals and enables smooth handover of work even in the organizational restructuring or personnel changes.

Features of main functions
・Simply enter an SQL statement, and it will be analyzed, indented, and returned in block format with spaces adjusted, along with an explanation of which part of the SQL the explanation corresponds to. This function provides suggestions for improvements to the SQL you create, allowing even those unfamiliar with SQL to create more appropriate and efficient SQL. In addition, subqueries can be hierarchized for in-depth analysis.
