■Background
tutuanna has approximately 450 company-owned and franchised stores both in Japan and overseas, and also sells products through its e-commerce website. In the retail business, a large number of products are handled, and new products are added in short cycles. In addition, it was necessary to optimize the product lineup for each store, and proper management of inventory at each store was required.

Conventional data utilization platforms were based on standard analytical mechanisms, and when a new need for data analysis arose, the necessary data had to be manually collected and integrated from multiple systems, and then a request had to be made to the information systems department to develop additional analysis items, which meant that data aggregation and analysis processing took time. In an environment where product trends and sales requirements were constantly changing, data analysis and utilization in stores was not progressing, and operations were based on experience and intuition. Therefore, with the aim of making merchandising (MD) accessible to everyone, we introduced Dr.Sum and MotionBoard to build a data analysis foundation to improve the accuracy of inventory management.

The key points for introducing Dr.Sum and MotionBoard are as follows:
- Excellent usability that even users who are not familiar with data analysis tools can use
- Fast data processing speed

■Benefits of implementation
Coinciding with the launch of its new core system in August 2023, tutuanna built a data analysis platform using Dr.Sum Datalizer (Datalizer), which allows Dr.Sum data to be handled in Excel or a Web browser, and the platform is currently being introduced in approximately 250 stores.

Dr.Sum integrates approximately 150 million records of sales data from the past three years, including sales data (POS data) from each store, and inventory data for approximately 300,000 SKUs (*), and makes weekly sales performance by product and area visible in comparison to the previous year and the previous week, which is useful for planning and improving management and sales policies. What previously took two minutes to obtain routine analysis data has now been reduced to two to three seconds, increasing data acquisition speed by up to 60 times, creating an environment that can flexibly respond to requests for new data analysis needs.

The Merchandising Department uses Datalizer to drill down into items by material, length, and other factors, and analyze sales trends for each item. This enables them to make purchases, adjust and manage inventory based on the data, and keep inventory at an appropriate level. We are also promoting efforts to utilize data, such as calculating store entry rates from foot traffic and entry numbers using cameras installed in front of stores, and comparing this with POS data to determine the effectiveness of our marketing initiatives.

MotionBoard was introduced in September 2024, allowing store managers to check the status of their own store at a glance on the dashboard. In the future, tutuanna plans to further enhance its data analysis and utilization, and use the data to improve demand forecasting, inventory management, and deepen customer understanding.
