Background
Mitsuiyakogyo, a manufacturer of automotive interior and exterior parts, had been using paper daily reports to manage factory operating status and production data. It had been working to improve its performance by digitizing its daily report application, as it was causing inefficiencies in work processes and management and preventing an accurate grasp of defect rates, leading to communication errors and worsening defect rates.

Constructing a new plant in the Tohoku area (Yonezawa City, Yamagata Prefecture) in April 2021, it introduced MotionBoard as a dashboard to promote the smart factory by first promoting digitalization at the new plant and then horizontally deploying the results at the head office plant.

The key points that Mitsuiya introduced MotionBoard are as follows:
・Dashboard with rich chart representation
・Support system by a domestic vendor
・Camera integration Function HiConnex (*1)

Implementation Impact
The production performance management system launched in 2019 as HiConnex (*1), a manufacturing site DX support tool for manufacturing site management. It acquires equipment, sensor, and fixed-point camera data in real time, consolidates production and defect information in HiConnex and displays it on the MotionBoard dashboard. Dashboards such as progress management screens and KPI comparison screens are displayed on a display in the center of the plant, and tablets are installed on each production line at the operations site.

・Consolidating and analyzing information on the occurrence of defects and responding to them, the defective product rate was greatly improved from 4.0% to 0.4%, resulting in a 200% increase in productivity.
・When an abnormality occurs, the worker presses a button on the tablet, and the manager's smart watch is notified of the abnormality, enabling a quick response.

In addition, in order to make the factory even smarter, Mitsuiya started operation in March 2023 using a cloud recording camera (Safie Inc.) by utilizing the camera linkage function of MotionBoard. The use of video data has produced certain results, including the identification of the cause of failures.
